We had so much fun celebrating Richards first official Fathers Day this last weekend! At my house growing up, special holidays were drawn out for the entire weekend. So birthdays, anniversaries and any other holiday were celebrated for the whole weekend and the one(s) being celebrated chose what they wanted for dinner, what they wanted to do and were basically king/queen for the weekend! I LOVED it, and so we have adopted that tradition into our own little family! Hence the reason for my blog title not being Fathers DAY! Cause we partied all weekend long! :)
Friday after he came home from school we picked up the house together and while Liam was napping we just sat in our living room and chatted! It was so much fun! I love how I can spend hours without knowing talking to Richard and NEVER once get bored! Then we all went to our wards BBQ and had tons of fun and afterwards had some friends over for games until late!
Saturday it was GORGEOUS so we spent most of the time that Liam was not sleeping or eating outside at the park next to our house!
All ready to go outside and waiting for mom and dad to finish getting ready!
This was his fathers day shirt...if you can't read it, it says "Daddys first mate"
Then Sunday we had a great day at church and then another BBQ with friends! I was going to make a yummy dinner, but we decided we wanted to hang out with friends and save the yummy dinner for another night!
Richard is SUCH an amazing Dad and Liam loves him so much! Whenever he hears Richards voice he gets so excited and also so sad when he leaves. He will watch him walk out of the room and then gets such a sad face! Richard always shows so much love to him, playing with him, and being silly with him. He is always making Liam laugh and it makes me so happy to watch the love of my life bring such joy into our little boys life! Liam really is blessed to have such an amazing daddy. I also have an absolutely amazing dad so I am so grateful that Liam has that blessing as well.
Here is a video of what Richard does best:
I don't know if you remember this post, but I spent several days working on a present for Richard and was so disappointed when it didn't come for Fathers Day! But, that disappointment didn't last for too long, because then I realized that meant we could draw out celebrating even MORE! :) Well, I have always wanted to do the photobook thing and make a story out of our pictures! I decided that fathers day would be a perfect time for it and it was so much fun! I thought it would be neat because we will read it to our kids every night and it could become a family treasure. We have decided that every year we are going to make a photobook about our family whether it be family history stories, our own family stories or other things. They are such a great way to print off pictures and save stories! A couple people requested pictures of his present, so here they are! :)
"Once upon a time...There was a special man with a special heart. He spent his life doing very special things. He befriended those in need, lifted up sad hearts and spread cheer with his constantly smiling face.
Then one day this special man met a young lady and swept her off her feet. She quickly realized that this special man was the one she wanted to love for eternity. On a summer day he made all her dreams come true by asking her to be his wife.
One perfect but stormy day, this special man took her to a very special place. And in this very special place, she became his queen and wife for time and all eternity. In this special place, their dreams of eternal love came true.
Together, they created a perfect life. Their very own fairy tale, which they lived every single day. And this special man constantly made all of his queen's wildest dreams come true.
Together they played, danced, laughed and loved. Created memories and expanded their horizons as they learned about the mysteries and truths of life. And no matter what they did, they did it together. Because life was best when they were together.
Then early one summer day, they found out to their utter joy, that one of their dreams was coming true. A very special spirit was coming to their family. A perfect, adorable and special little prince.
Together they patiently waited, dreamed of, prepared for, sang to and loved their special little prince as he grew inside of the special queen.
Then one night, after all the waiting, the time came for this special man to take his queen to the hospital. The special man stayed by her side as she brought their son into the world, loving and caring for her. They couldn't wait to meet their little prince.
And that night a very magical thing happened. The special man was not just a man anymore. That night became a very special dad to his precious little prince. And in that moment they were not just two anymore. Their "together" had expanded in perfect, wonderful and amazing ways. And they became a family. A family forever.
The little prince knew that he was special because he had a very special dad. One who would always love him more than he could ever imagine. With all the kisses, all the hugs, all the smiles, all the "I Love You"'s, all the laughs and all the love his special dad gave him, he knew he was the luckiest boy in all the world.
The special little prince knew that more than anything else, he wanted to be just like his special dad. The most special dad in all the world.
Happy 1st fathers day most special dad! Love, your little prince William"
And here is a video of Richard reading the book to Liam:
See what I am talking about? His hair makes him look like a child from who-ville!
So our "first" Fathers Day with Liam in our life was a smashing success!
Quote from Richard: "Fathers Day is one of my favorite days of the year!"
